Fake Ferrari Service History (Part 2)

19/10/2014

Following on from my previous post on fake service histories, I have been passed another counterfeit booklet – this time for a F430.  Looking at the materials and printing it is clear that it came from the same forger who made the 360 booklet I wrote about in September.  This post will run through some … More Fake Ferrari Service History (Part 2)

Improving the provenance of your Ferrari

08/10/2014

Before I begin this post, I’d like to extend my best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to the Ferrari Academy/Marussia F1 driver Jules Bianchi.  As I watched the events unfold on the TV three days ago it brought back the same terrible feelings I had twenty years previously watching the San Marino GP.  Thankfully Jules … More Improving the provenance of your Ferrari

Fake Ferrari Service History

09/09/2014

I correspond with many people from all over the world on Ferrari matters and the main reason people get in touch with me is to seek advice when buying into the marque for the first time.  One such person passed me some pictures of the service book that was presented to him when viewing an F430 … More Fake Ferrari Service History

Ferrari 360 Market Watch (September 2014)

01/09/2014

It’s that time of the month again and, as last month, I have news of a price increase.  Average Ferrari 360 asking prices have risen another 1.85% MoM with the price index now at 106.80.  This represents a YoY change of over 7% – not a bad place to keep your money.

Ferrari 360 & F430 Wheel Bearing Replacement

21/08/2014

Ferrari wheel bearings are generally quite long lasting but at the end of the day they are a consumable part.  There are two main reasons that a bearing needs to be changed on a  Ferrari – firstly, the bearing itself could be worn but also the ABS sensor is built into the bearing assembly.  If … More Ferrari 360 & F430 Wheel Bearing Replacement

Ferrari 360 and F430 Balljoints

14/08/2014

If there’s one thing I can guarantee that all 360 or F430 cars will need replacing during their life it would be balljoints.  Ferrari decided to fit rose joints (called heim joint in the US) where the hub attaches to the wishbones.  The OEM joints are made from chrome plated mild steel – when the chrome … More Ferrari 360 and F430 Balljoints

Ferrari F1 Clutch Operation

07/08/2014

The semi automatic F1 system was first introduced by Ferrari back in 1998 on the 355 and was carried through onto the 360, 575, F430, 612 and 599. The system is very similar to the Maserati Cambiocorsa or Duoselect and the Alfa Romeo Selespeed systems so much of what is written here will also apply … More Ferrari F1 Clutch Operation

Ferrari 360 Market Watch (August 2014)

01/08/2014

This month brings good news for owners but bad news for buyers.  Average asking prices for the 360 have risen a monumental 2.33% since last month.  The index now stands at 104.86, up nearly 5% since I started collecting data this time last year (who needs stocks and shares?!).

Ferrari Duplicate Service History

15/07/2014

I recently helped a friend with some advice during the purchase of a 360 and ended up buying a car where the service history book had been lost.  In fact the only shred of service documentation was the work done in preparing the car for sale.  In the first instance I advised to walk away as my … More Ferrari Duplicate Service History
